Fire Testing

The test laboratory of Entwicklungs- und Prüflabor Holztechnologie GmbH (EPH) prepares test certificates for the CE declaration in accordance with the Construction Products Regulation for resilient, textile and laminate floor coverings, wooden flooring, parquet and sports flooring in accordance with EN 14041, EN 14342 and EN 14904 as part of its European notification as a test laboratory and product certification body.

EPH also has horizontal notification as a fire testing centre for fire tests in accordance with EN ISO 9239-1, EN ISO 11925-2, EN ISO 1716 and EN ISO 1182 and is also recognised for fire tests for shipbuilding (for steering wheel certification) in accordance with IMO Resolution MSC.307 (88) 2010 FTP Code – Parts 1 and 5.

As a DIBt test centre, tests are carried out on underlays and floor coatings.

The EPH’s cooperation partner in the UK is SATRA, which can produce documents for the UKCA labelling of floor coverings based on the EPH’s reports.

Floor coverings

Determination of the reaction to fire of floor coverings by means of:

  • Radiant panel test according to EN ISO 9239-1 and small burner test according to EN ISO 11925-2 as proof of conformity (for CE declaration) for class Efl (normal flammability) to Bfl (low flammability)
  • Bomb calorimeter according to EN ISO 1716 and non-combustibility furnace according to EN ISO 1182 as proof of conformity (for CE declaration) for class A1fl to A2fl (non-combustible)

Laying underlays

  • Carrying out single flame tests to determine the fire class according to EN ISO 11925-2 with classification class E (normal flammability) according to EN 13501-1
  • Tests in accordance with EAD requirements for installation underlays to obtain an ETA (for CE declaration)
  • Tests according to individual DIBt test programme
