TÜV PROFiCERT Emission Requirements

Certification program “TÜV PROFiCERT-product Interior brand”

Purpose and scope of certification

  • “TÜV PROFiCERT-product Interior” is a certification procedure for assessing the health impact of VOC emissions from interior products (e.g., floor coverings and sports flooring systems, wall and ceiling coverings, wood-based materials, HPL/CPL, underlayments, and screed coatings).
  • In addition, quality characteristics can be evaluated.

Structure of the certification process

The procedure comprises three mandatory elements:

  • Initial surveillance of factory production control (FPC) including sampling for testing at EPH Dresden or TFI Aachen
  • Certification by TÜV Hessen, valid for 3 years, entry into the TÜV database, which is accessible to customers and end users
  • Annual surveillance of the FPC, including sampling for tests to maintain certification

Certificate variants

  • There are four variants of the trademark:
    • TÜV PROFiCERT-product Interior Standard
    • TÜV PROFiCERT-product Interior Standard with additional quality control
    • TÜV PROFiCERT-product Interior PREMIUM
    • TÜV PROFiCERT-product Interior PREMIUM with additional quality control
  • Standard: Ensuring that emissions do not pose a health risk and that legal requirements in Europe are met
  • PREMIUM: Particularly stringent requirements to ensure excellent indoor air quality right from the start of use
